Medication Management Services

Funded by Eau Claire County, the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services contracts with Eau Claire Community Programs to provide mental health medication management services to patients. Vouchers are issued based on the patients' insurance status, insured or uninsured, and if they fall below certain annual income levels. Services include psychiatric consultation and psychiatrist/psychiatric nurse medication management. Medications prescribed to patients under this program are free.

How can I get medication through your clinic?

The psychiatrist at Eau Claire Community Programs will determine the appropriate medications for your needs. After you are an established patient, you can get your prescribed medications by calling the clinic nursing department. Some medications are available to be picked up directly at the clinic, or you may be given a voucher to have your medications filled at a local pharmacy.

Who do I see if I want to have medication prescribed?

Psychiatrists are the medical care providers who typically prescribe psychotropic medications. At Eau Claire Community Programs, the majority of the patients seen by our psychiatrist are funded by Eau Claire County Human Services. To be eligible for the county funded Eau Claire Community Program, you need to get an authorization from the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services which will qualify you for the medication management program. The DHS office is located at the Courthouse at 721 Oxford Ave. Once you have a voucher authorizing services for the program, you can call or stop in at Eau Claire Community Programs to set up an intake appointment. After your intake appointment is completed, you will be given an appointment to see our physician who will prescribe medication. If you are unable to see the psychiatrist at Eau Claire Community Programs, your primary medical provider may be a resource to help you determine appropriate providers in the community to meet your needs.

Intoxicated Driver Program

In Wisconsin, each county designates an agency which is licensed and certified to provide Intoxicated Driver Assessment (IDP). For residents of Eau Claire County who have been convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol or other substances, Eau Claire Community Programs is the assigned entity.

What takes place during an Intoxicated Drivers Program
(IDP) assessment?

You will meet with a trained alcohol and drug abuse counselor who will ask you about your use of intoxicating substances. The confidentiality of all information you share is strictly protected by state and federal regulations (42 CFR Part II). The purpose of the assessment is to determine whether a drinking or drug problem exists and to determine the appropriate level of care necessary. A Driver Safety Plan is developed to identify the recommendations for follow-up care.

What is a Driver's Safety Plan?

Throughout Wisconsin, persons convicted of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants or other related offenses are required to complete an assessment for their use of alcohol, drugs, and prescription medications. All the assessments result in a referral to either an educational program or a counseling program — this is the Driver Safety Plan, which is a required component of Wisconsin's Intoxicated Driver Program. The intent of the Driver Safety Plan is to help all of us reduce the threat of repeat-offense drunk driving.

How quickly can I get my license back?

Once you have completed your assessment, you will receive paperwork that will allow you to apply for reinstatement of your license. Certain criteria need to be met in order for you to qualify for reinstatement. You will need to obtain insurance for individuals with OWIs (SR22); your fines need to be paid; and your suspension time will need to be served.
